The resolution proudly congratulates the Daphne High School Girls Wrestling Team for their remarkable achievement in winning the 2026 Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) 6A-7A State Championship, held at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville from February 12-14, 2026. The team secured their fourth state title since 2021 by accumulating a total of 93 team points, outperforming runners-up Sparkman and Auburn. Notably, junior Kimber Alford and senior Annabella Harris each claimed individual state championships in their respective weight classes, with Alford achieving a back-to-back title and Harris finishing the season with an impressive record of 50-1.
The resolution also highlights the contributions of the entire team, which includes athletes from seventh through 12th grades, and acknowledges the leadership of Head Coach Matt Gilson and Assistant Coaches Bailey, Reid, and Alford.
