House Joint Resolution 163 established the Chronic Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force to investigate the health implications associated with chronic weight management and type 2 diabetes. Initially, the task force was required to submit its findings and recommendations by the fifteenth legislative day of the 2025 Regular Session, after which it would be dissolved. However, House Joint Resolution 97 later extended the task force's timeline, recognizing the need for additional time to develop comprehensive recommendations on these health issues.
The current resolution further extends the task force's mandate, allowing it an additional year to continue its work. The task force is now required to submit its final report, including findings and recommendations, by November 1, 2026. Following the submission of this report, the task force will be dissolved and relieved of any further responsibilities. Additionally, the task force must comply with state regulations by notifying the Secretary of State about its meetings, membership, and any documents produced during its operation.
