The Alabama Legislature has officially recognized Senior Trooper Hunter Woodruff as the recipient of the 2026 Alabama Legislative Meritorious Service Award for Law Enforcement. This commendation is in honor of his extraordinary courage and decisive actions taken in the line of duty on November 12, 2025. While on duty, Trooper Woodruff observed a Prattville Police Department vehicle responding to an emergency and followed to provide assistance. Upon arriving at the scene, he discovered a gunshot victim and immediately began administering lifesaving first aid, which included applying a sterilized clotting agent and gauze to the victim's wounds.

Trooper Woodruff's quick response and effective first aid were crucial in stabilizing the victim, Mr. Gilbert, until paramedics arrived. His actions have been praised by Prattville Fire Chief Josh Bingham, who noted that Woodruff's intervention was instrumental in saving the victim's life. The resolution expresses profound gratitude and admiration for Trooper Woodruff's exemplary service, highlighting the dedication and professionalism expected of law enforcement officers in Alabama.
