This bill would create the Skilled Trades Workforce Recovery Program Act to provide full tuition for rural residents enrolled in eligible trade programs; provide grants to employers in rural areas who sponsor registered apprenticeships in high-demand fields; offer stipends to students and trainees for purchasing required tools or commuting to job sites and training facilities; fund a statewide campaign to promote trade careers; and to recognize prior work experience and military training toward trade certifications. This bill would require the Alabama Department of Workforce to administer the programs.
