The resolution honors ALEA Pilot Benjamin M. Carswell for his exemplary courage and quick response during a life-threatening incident on December 20, 2025. While driving in the Mobile Highway area, he heard an explosion and discovered an overturned vehicle engulfed in flames after it struck a power pole. Despite the danger, Pilot Carswell took immediate action by using a fire extinguisher to suppress the flames and alerting emergency responders, ensuring that help was on the way.

His relentless efforts continued as he worked alongside Montgomery Police Department personnel and later assisted Montgomery Fire and Rescue in extinguishing the fire and aiding in the extrication of the vehicle's occupants. Thanks to his swift and decisive actions, both occupants, who sustained serious injuries, were saved from potential fatalities. The resolution recognizes Pilot Carswell's bravery and dedication to public service, awarding him the 2026 Alabama Legislative Meritorious Service Award for Law Enforcement.
