House Joint Resolution 100, enacted as Act 2025-131, established the Joint Interim Study Commission on Expanding Access to High-Quality Out-of-School Education Programs to enhance after school and summer educational opportunities. The commission was originally tasked with submitting its findings and recommendations to the Legislature by the fifteenth day of the 2026 Regular Session, after which it would be dissolved. However, the commission has requested additional time to further develop its recommendations.
In response, the Legislature of Alabama has resolved to extend the Joint Interim Study Commission, requiring it to prepare and submit a report of its findings, conclusions, and recommendations by November 1, 2026. Following the submission of this report, the commission will be dissolved and relieved of any further responsibilities. Additionally, the commission is mandated to provide the Secretary of State with notices of all meetings, a list of its members, and copies of its final report and any other documents produced during its operation.
