The resolution honors the life and service of Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan David Shultz, USAF (Retired), who passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 52 after a battle with brain cancer. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and The University of Alabama, Lt. Col. Shultz served for 21 years in the United States Air Force and the Alabama Air National Guard, retiring in 2016. His distinguished military career included roles as a Fighter Pilot and Squadron Leader, during which he completed over 2,400 flight hours and received numerous awards for his valor and service, including the Bronze Star Medal and the Air Medal.
After retiring, Lt. Col. Shultz continued to contribute to national security through his work in the defense and aerospace industry, cofounding Resolution® LLC in Huntsville, Alabama. Even while facing illness, he participated in clinical research to advance medical treatments. The resolution expresses the Alabama Legislature's deepest sympathy to his family and recognizes his legacy of integrity, service, and leadership, as well as his lasting contributions to both the state of Alabama and the nation. A copy of the resolution will be presented to his family as a token of esteem.
