The bill aims to prohibit the operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) within 400 feet of ticketed entertainment events, which are defined as music, sporting, or performing arts events held in locations with restricted access. Violating this prohibition can result in a fine of up to $500 for the first offense, while subsequent violations are classified as Class A misdemeanors. The bill also outlines specific exemptions where the prohibition does not apply, including scenarios where the operator has obtained consent from the event's legal authority, is authorized by federal regulations, or is conducting official business as an employee of the property or a utility service provider.

Additionally, the bill specifies that the prohibition does not apply to operators who are owners of private property operating their UAS above their property in compliance with federal regulations, as long as the operation is not for commercial purposes or to interfere with the event. It also exempts employees or volunteers from state agencies, law enforcement, fire departments, or emergency management agencies conducting official business, as well as operations during middle school or high school sports events. The act is set to take effect on October 1, 2026.
