Under existing law, a person desiring to engage in the practice of general contracting must be licensed by the Alabama Board of General Contractors before operating as a general contractor. Also under existing law, various types of work and other services are exempt from the requirements to be licensed as a general contractor. This bill would add to the list of exemptions from the general contractor law the following: Painting services, janitorial services, waxing floor services, pressure washing services, maintenance of security systems, lighting and filter replacement services, and maintenance of existing plumbing, air conditioning, and electrical systems.
