Under current law, the Governor's Mansion Authority may hire employees, as may be necessary or desirable, and may fix the compensation of such employees. Current law does not specify the status of such employees under the Merit System Act. This bill would create the Sarah Caldwell Crosby Act. This bill would codify current practice by providing that employees of the Governor's Mansion Authority are employees within the unclassified service for purposes of the Merit System Act. This bill would further provide that any employee of the authority as of the effective date of this act shall be entitled to payment for his or her accumulated leave upon separation from service.
