The resolution recognizes the Alabama Scenic River Trail (ASRT) for its significant contributions to outdoor recreation and tourism in Alabama since its establishment in 2008. Initially designated as a National Recreational Trail and later as a National Water Trail, the ASRT has expanded from 631 miles to over 6,300 miles of waterways, partnering with more than 70 local businesses and organizations to promote paddling and enhance the safety and enjoyment of Alabama's rivers and lakes. The resolution highlights the ASRT's ongoing efforts to foster community engagement and improve recreational experiences through programming and safety initiatives.

Additionally, the resolution commends the participants of the 2025 Great Alabama 650, the longest solo paddle race in the country, which has gained international recognition. It acknowledges the outstanding achievements of the division winners, including Overall and Male Solo Winner Trey Reaves, Female Solo Winner Ryan Gillikin, and Tandem Team Winners Jessica Nance and Candi Hill. The resolution expresses admiration for their perseverance and skill, emphasizing the importance of the Great Alabama 650 and the ASRT in promoting freshwater recreation in the state. Copies of the resolution will be provided to the ASRT headquarters and the division winners as a token of recognition.
