Under existing law, an arrest warrant may be served by any law enforcement officer within this state. This bill would require the Department of Corrections to check for any outstanding warrants for an inmate under its supervision under certain conditions and would require the department to serve the inmate with the warrant. This bill would require that if a hearing is held pursuant to a required warrant check, the hearing would be required to be held virtually from the prison, subject to certain conditions. This bill would also require the Board of Pardons and Paroles to check for any outstanding warrants and provide various notifications when an inmate is considered for parole.
