Under existing law, the Director of Transportation may order the relocation of any utility facility when it is determined to be necessary for the construction of any project on a public highway, road, or street. This bill would require the Director of Transportation to obtain the estimated cost of utility relocation and would further define the term "utility" to include providers at retail or at wholesale of electricity, any type of gas, water, sewer, broadband, cable, and telecommunications services.
