This bill amends Section 1 of Act 84-549, which pertains to the compensation of the circuit clerk in Washington County, Alabama. The amendments include changing the term "Circuit Clerk" to "circuit clerk" for consistency in capitalization. Additionally, the bill specifies that the circuit clerk will receive a monthly county supplement allowance equal to two percent of the annual total state compensation for circuit clerks, replacing the previous provision that stated a supplement of 2%. The county supplement will be paid monthly from the county general fund, rather than from the county treasury, and will be distributed in the same manner as payments to other county officers.
Furthermore, the bill introduces a provision stating that if the individual holding the office of circuit clerk on January 1, 2025, vacates the office, the amended section will become void. This act is set to take effect on October 1, 2025.
