This bill amends Section 45-29-230 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to revise the compensation structure for the Sheriff of Fayette County. The previous provision, which granted the sheriff an additional expense allowance of $10,000 per year, is deleted. Instead, the new language establishes that until January 18, 2027, the sheriff will continue to receive the same base annual salary that is in effect as of September 30, 2025.

Starting October 1, 2025, the sheriff will receive an expense allowance of $20,000 per year, in addition to the base salary. Furthermore, beginning January 18, 2027, the sheriff's base salary will increase to $80,000 per year, and the previously mentioned salary and expense allowance will be voided. This act is set to take effect on October 1, 2025.
