The Alabama Teacher Paperwork Streamlining Act aims to reduce the administrative paperwork burden on K-12 teachers by establishing a unified digital platform for documentation related to the Alabama Literacy Act, the Alabama Numeracy Act, and other educational programs. The State Department of Education is tasked with creating this platform, collaborating with local boards of education and various stakeholders to eliminate redundant documentation, standardize forms, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Additionally, the Act establishes a statewide teacher advisory committee to provide input on paperwork requirements and assess the effectiveness of streamlining measures.

To facilitate these changes, the bill repeals Section 16-6B-11 of the Code of Alabama 1975, which previously governed the Paperwork Reduction Committee, and replaces it with the newly formed Alabama Public Education Paperwork Reduction Committee. This committee will consist primarily of teachers and will meet quarterly to evaluate paperwork requirements and recommend further improvements. Local boards of education are required to comply with the new streamlined system, and the State Department of Education will conduct annual audits to ensure adherence. The Act is set to take effect on June 1, 2025, with necessary funding allocated to support its implementation.
