The Alabama Teacher Paperwork Streamlining Act aims to reduce the administrative burdens on teachers by creating a unified digital platform for documentation related to the Alabama Literacy Act, the Alabama Numeracy Act, and other educational programs. The State Department of Education is tasked with developing this platform, collaborating with local boards of education and various stakeholders to eliminate redundant documentation, standardize forms, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Additionally, the Act establishes a statewide teacher advisory committee to assess and recommend further improvements in paperwork reduction, with a focus on enhancing teacher morale and retention.

To facilitate these changes, the bill repeals Section 16-6B-11 of the Code of Alabama 1975, which previously governed the Paperwork Reduction Committee, and replaces it with the newly formed Alabama Public Education Paperwork Reduction Committee. This committee will consist primarily of teachers and will meet quarterly to evaluate the effectiveness of paperwork streamlining measures. Local boards of education are required to comply with the new streamlined documentation system, and the State Department of Education will conduct annual audits to ensure adherence. The Act is set to take effect on June 1, 2025, with necessary funding allocated to support its implementation.
