The Alabama Teacher Paperwork Streamlining Act aims to reduce the administrative paperwork burden on K-12 teachers by establishing a unified digital platform for documentation related to the Alabama Literacy Act, the Alabama Numeracy Act, and other educational programs. The State Department of Education is tasked with creating this platform, collaborating with local boards of education and various stakeholders to eliminate redundant documentation, standardize forms, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Additionally, the Act mandates the formation of a statewide teacher advisory committee to provide input on paperwork requirements and to review and audit these requirements annually.

The bill also includes the repeal of Section 16-6B-11 of the Code of Alabama 1975, which previously established the Paperwork Reduction Committee, thereby creating a new Alabama Public Education Paperwork Reduction Committee composed primarily of teachers. This committee will meet quarterly to assess the effectiveness of paperwork streamlining measures and will report its findings to the State Superintendent of Education. Local boards of education are required to comply with the new streamlined documentation system, with the State Department of Education conducting annual audits to ensure adherence. The Act is set to take effect on June 1, 2025.
