The resolution honors Jimmy Rex Wilbanks for his remarkable 49 years of dedicated service to DeKalb County, making him the longest-serving employee in the courthouse. After graduating from Fyffe High School and Jacksonville State University, he began his career as DeKalb County's first Juvenile Probation Officer in 1976 and eventually rose to the position of Chief Probation Officer. Throughout his tenure, Wilbanks has actively contributed to various boards and organizations, including the establishment of the DeKalb County Children's Advocacy Center and serving on the Alabama Chief Juvenile Probation Officers Association.
In recognition of his selflessness and commitment, Wilbanks has received numerous accolades, including the Gene Jones Memorial Award for Outstanding Juvenile Probation Officer in 1983. He has also played a significant role in the DeKalb County Day Treatment Program and served on the Board of Directors at Coosa Valley Youth Services for 40 years, including a decade as Chair.
