The Alabama Senate proudly recognizes the remarkable achievements of the Pisgah Girls Basketball Team, which recently won the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 2A State Championship. This victory is a testament to the team's exceptional skill, hard work, and dedication, as they triumphed over top-ranked Decatur Heritage with a final score of 84-72. Head Coach Carey Ellison, who has led 15 different teams to state championship games over his 29-year career, noted the unique nature of this game, which saw his team build a significant halftime lead and finish strong with a 21-6 scoring run.

This championship victory marks the eleventh title for Pisgah, making it the second most in AHSAA history and the ninth under Coach Ellison's leadership. The continued excellence of the Pisgah girls basketball squad brings pride not only to Pisgah High School and the City of Pisgah but also to the entire State of Alabama. In light of their outstanding accomplishments, the House of Representatives of Alabama commends and congratulates the Pisgah Girls Basketball Team for their significant achievement in the state championship.
