The resolution extends the Chronic Weight Management and Type 2 Diabetes Task Force, originally established by House Joint Resolution 163 (Act 2023-260) during the 2023 Regular Session. The task force was tasked with studying the health implications of chronic weight management and type 2 diabetes and was initially set to submit its findings and recommendations by the fifteenth legislative day of the 2025 Regular Session, after which it would be dissolved. However, recognizing the need for additional time to develop comprehensive recommendations, the resolution grants the task force an extension of one year.
Under the new timeline, the task force is now required to prepare and submit its report to the Speaker of the House, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and the relevant legislative committee chairs by the fifteenth legislative day of the 2026 Regular Session. Following the submission of its report, the task force will be dissolved and relieved of any further responsibilities. Additionally, the task force is mandated to provide the Secretary of State with notices of all meetings, a list of its members, and copies of its final report and any other documents produced during its operation.
