The Alabama House of Representatives has passed a resolution to honor Josiah Benson, a talented young performer from Alabama, for his significant achievements in musical theater. Josiah, the son of Dedrick and Felicia Benson, has been involved in the arts since the age of 10 and has excelled academically, receiving Outstanding Student Awards in English and Choir while maintaining an A-honor roll status at Helena Middle School. His impressive performances include roles in productions such as "Sebastian" in Disney's Little Mermaid Jr. and "Gavroche" in Les Misérables, showcasing his dedication and talent in the performing arts.
Most notably, Josiah has recently been touring nationally in the Broadway show "MJ the Musical," where he plays the lead role of "Little Michael Jackson" and occasionally "Little Marlon Jackson." Since August 2023, he has performed in over 300 shows, reaching an audience of more than 1.2 million people, and is recognized as a proud member of the Actors' Equity Association. The resolution serves to celebrate his accomplishments and contributions to the arts, highlighting the pride the Alabama House of Representatives takes in the achievements of its citizens.
