Dr. Julia Sullivan Nelson is being honored with the highest commendations and congratulations upon her retirement, recognizing her outstanding professional achievements. Dr. Nelson's educational background includes an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Bishop State Junior College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Education, and an Educational Specialist Degree from the University of South Alabama, and a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University. She began her career as a first-grade teacher at Orchard Elementary School and later served as an assistant principal and then principal at Burroughs Elementary School for 23 years, where she demonstrated exceptional work ethic and vision.
Dr. Nelson's commitment extended beyond her professional life to her school, church, and community, particularly giving back to her neighborhood school and church. She is married to Mr. Henry L. Nelson, with whom she has three sons, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Dr. Nelson credits her parents for teaching her the value of hard work and her unwavering faith in God for sustaining her throughout her journey.
