Missy Odom of Jasper High School Basketball Team has been awarded the prestigious title of Alabama Class 5A Player of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. The award was presented at a banquet held at the Montgomery Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center on April 16, 2024. Odom, along with her teammate Mia Hollingsworth, played a pivotal role in leading the Jasper Lady Vikings to their first-ever state basketball championship in March. Her impressive season statistics included an average of 18.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 2.4 blocks, and 1.5 assists per game, contributing to the team's remarkable 31-4 season record.
