The resolution recognizes Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African Americans, which was founded on December 4, 1906, at Cornell University. The fraternity, created by a group of seven founders known as the "Jewels," has played a significant role in fostering brotherhood among African descendants in the United States. Over its 117-year history, Alpha Phi Alpha has remained committed to its core principles of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind, producing over 200,000 members and currently boasting more than 80,000 college-educated living members across various chapters worldwide.

The resolution commends Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity for its impactful contributions to society, including extensive community service efforts, scholarship funding, and voter registration initiatives. In recognition of these achievements, the Alabama House of Representatives designates April 30, 2024, as Alpha Phi Alpha Day at the Alabama State Capitol. The resolution also instructs the Secretary of the House to provide copies of the resolution to the Alabama District Director and the Chairperson of the Political Action Committee of the fraternity.
