The fraternity, which has been in existence for 117 years, is celebrated for its commitment to the principles of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind. It has produced over 200,000 members and currently boasts over 80,000 college-educated living members across 706 chapters in various regions, including the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.
The resolution commends Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity for its civic outreach initiatives, which have resulted in over 850,000 hours of community service, the provision of $2.3 million in scholarships, and the registration of thousands of American citizens to vote. The House of Representatives of the Alabama Legislature extends its appreciation for the fraternity's outstanding contributions to the nation and the State of Alabama. In recognition of these achievements, the resolution declares April 30, 2024, as Alpha Phi Alpha Day at the Alabama State Capitol and instructs the Secretary of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to the Alabama District Director and the Chairperson of the Political Action Committee of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
