Thomas Gary Ward is recognized and commended for his achievements at the United States Military Academy at West Point and for his efforts in encouraging young people to strive for excellence. On March 20, 2024, Representative Robert B. Aderholt from Alabama honored him with remarks on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, which were entered into the Congressional Record. Ward, a native of Jasper, Alabama, attended the University of Mississippi for a year before being nominated by Congressman Aderholt and starting at West Point in July 2020, where he was elected Class President among 1,200 cadets.

During his time at West Point, Thomas Ward pursued interests in public policy, problem-solving, and leadership, serving as the class president and a leader on West Point's military skills team. He has been involved in outreach programs, teaching high school and college students about character and ethics in leadership. Upon graduation with a degree in political science, he will be commissioned as an infantry officer and assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. Currently, he is touring schools in Alabama's 4th Congressional District, speaking to students about excellence and hope. The Alabama House of Representatives resolves to commend Thomas Gary Ward for his accomplishments and leadership, and congratulates him for his recognition in the Congressional Record.
