Allen E. Owen III has been recognized for his long-standing and dedicated service to Troy University, where he has been a member of the Board of Trustees since his appointment on October 13, 1988. His connection to the university is deep-rooted, as he is an alumnus with three degrees, a former football player, and a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Additionally, Mr. Owen has a notable record of service to the nation, having served in the United States Marine Corps and the Alabama National Guard, where he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Mr. Owen's professional career is marked by significant roles, including serving as Manager of the Legislative Liaison Office under Governor Guy Hunt and as Manager of the Southern Region State Government Affairs for MeadWestvaco Corporation. His wife, Annette Colley Owen, is also a distinguished Troy University alumna. Mr. Owen's leadership as Chair of the Athletics Policy Committee has been instrumental in elevating Troy Athletics to the highest level of NCAA competition. In recognition of his exceptional service and leadership, the Alabama House of Representatives has resolved to bestow upon Mr. Owen the title of Board of Trustee Emeritus of Troy University.
