The Council of State Governments Southern Office (CSG South) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that serves the legislatures of 15 Southern states by providing programs and services to facilitate regional cooperation and information exchange. Governed by an executive committee and six standing policy committees, CSG South aims to connect, inform, inspire, and empower public servants across all branches of state government. The organization has a longstanding tradition of convening the Southern Legislative Conference, which has been held annually for the past 77 years.
The 78th Southern Legislative Conference is scheduled to take place in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia, from July 21 to 25, 2024. This event is expected to draw over 1,500 Southern legislators, government staff, and their families to discuss policy issues pertinent to the Southern states, aiming to find common ground and solutions to current policy trends, challenges, and opportunities. The Alabama House of Representatives commends CSG South for its efforts in organizing the annual conference and encourages all Southern legislative, executive, and judicial officials to participate.
