Senior Trooper Spencer Adkinson has been honored with the 2024 Alabama Legislative Meritorious Service Award for Law Enforcement in recognition of his heroic actions during a traffic accident. On May 12, 2023, while responding to an accident in Dothan, he witnessed a Honda SUV swerve and become airborne, landing in Bear Creek. Demonstrating immense bravery, Trooper Adkinson shattered the vehicle's rear hatch window, jumped into the water, and, with assistance from another officer and several civilians, successfully rescued the driver from drowning.
