The Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama is celebrating its 75th anniversary, marking a significant milestone for an organization that has had a substantial impact on local communities. The association, which was previously known as the Alabama Oilmen's Association and the Alabama Association of Convenience Stores, underwent a name change in 2002 to better reflect its membership following several mergers within the petroleum marketing and convenience store industries. The association originated from the merger of the Alabama Petroleum Marketers Association (established in 1949) and the Independent Oilmen's Association of Alabama (formed in 1966), with the Alabama Association of Convenience Stores joining in 1991.

The association's mission is to support a favorable business environment for its members through advocacy, education, and services, with the goal of ensuring a competitive distribution of petroleum products and fostering the growth of retail gasoline outlets and convenience stores in Alabama. The industry plays a crucial role in the state's economy, with over 3,600 retail locations, employing more than 59,200 people, handling millions of transactions daily, and generating significant tax revenue. In recognition of its professional excellence, civic leadership, and positive contributions to the state, the Alabama House of Representatives commends the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama on its 75th anniversary and applauds the community service provided by its employees.
