Miss Belle Casey, a junior at Oak Mountain High School and titleholder of Miss Historic Springville's Teen and Miss Shelby County's Outstanding Teen 2023, is recognized for her dedicated efforts to raise awareness and support for the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Over the past three years, she has raised over $5,000 for the cause through various initiatives, including participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS, organizing Twirl Away ALS Baton Camps, and collaborating with the Birmingham Squadron Basketball Team to donate a portion of ticket sales to the ALS Association Alabama Chapter.

Belle Casey's personal connection to ALS, through her cousin who has been battling the disease for over a decade, has fueled her commitment to this cause. As a competitive baton twirler, she aims to expand her Twirl Away ALS baton camp on both state and national levels to increase awareness and funding for ALS research. The Alabama Legislature honors Belle Casey with this resolution, expressing deep admiration and appreciation for her advocacy and fundraising efforts, and extends best wishes for her future endeavors in the fight against ALS.
