Dr. O. Wendell Davis is being honored for his 35 years of service as the pastor of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. A special celebration is scheduled for April 21, 2024, at the church, with the theme "Celebrating the Laborer that Dwells Among Us." The event will feature Pastor Leon Bell, Jr. leading the worship experience and will conclude with a fellowship luncheon to honor both Pastor Davis and his wife, Dora, for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the church community.

Dr. Davis, who was born in New Orleans and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi, served in the U.S. Army for three years before committing his life to Christ at the age of 24. He has been in ministry work for over 40 years and has been the pastor of Union Chapel since September 1989, making him only the third pastor in the church's 91-year history. He is recognized as an accomplished Bible scholar, teacher, and preacher, and has contributed significantly to the church's growth through various projects, including land acquisition, the establishment of educational institutions, and the construction of a family life center. The Alabama House of Representatives extends its heartiest congratulations to Dr. Davis on his anniversary, offering the resolution in deep admiration and appreciation for his service.
