Born in Lafayette, Georgia, she pursued higher education at the University of Georgia and Florida State University. Throughout her career spanning over 50 years, Dendy made significant contributions as a teacher, school psychologist, counselor, mental health administrator, lobbyist, CEO of a mental health advocacy organization, board director, speaker, and author. Her work, including five respected books and various educational materials, has been recognized nationally and internationally, providing hope and solutions for those affected by ADHD and learning differences.
Dendy's legacy includes her role as a passionate advocate, mentor, and an influential figure in the ADHD community. She was actively involved with the nonprofit organization CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) for over 30 years, contributing to its Educator's Manual and co-founding a teacher training program.
