The Jasper High School Girls Basketball Team and their coaches are being formally recognized and congratulated by the Alabama Legislature for winning the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 5A State Basketball Championship. This resolution celebrates the team's historic victory on March 2, 2024, at the BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham, where they secured their first State Title with a 48-44 win over Scottsboro High School. Senior Mia Hollingsworth was a standout player, earning tournament MVP honors and contributing significantly to the win with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
The resolution also acknowledges the exceptional performances of other team members, including sophomore Missy Odom and seniors Hallie Harrell and Idaysia Mercer, who were all selected for the Class 5A Girls All-Tourney Team.
