This bill amends Section 45-2-230.03 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to increase the compensation of the Sheriff of Baldwin County. The bill specifies that starting June 1, 2024, the sheriff will receive a total annual compensation of $150,000, which includes an additional expense allowance. This amount replaces the previous compensation of $130,000, and the allowance will be paid in equal monthly installments from the county's general fund.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that beginning with the sheriff's term after June 1, 2024, any cost-of-living adjustments granted to employees of the sheriff's office will also apply to the sheriff's compensation. These adjustments will initially be disbursed as an expense allowance until the end of the sheriff's term, at which point they will be converted into salary. The act is set to take effect on June 1, 2024.
