This bill pertains specifically to Baldwin County and aims to transfer various responsibilities related to motor vehicle licenses, tags, and taxes from the license inspector and judge of probate to the county revenue commissioner. Starting October 1, 2024, the county revenue commissioner will be responsible for the administration and enforcement of motor vehicle title registration, ad valorem tax assessment and collection, and the issuance of motor vehicle licenses and license plates. The bill also relieves the license inspector and judge of probate of all duties related to these functions, as indicated by the deletion of their responsibilities in the current law.

Additionally, the bill establishes the position of License Coordinator within the office of the county revenue commissioner, who will be a classified employee hired by the commissioner. All costs associated with this position will be funded through the county general fund. The county revenue commissioner will continue to collect the same fees and penalties as previously mandated by law, which will also be deposited into the county general fund. The bill is set to take effect on October 1, 2024.
