The trail has also focused on enhancing safety for paddlers by installing mile markers throughout the state and has successfully hosted the Great Alabama 650 Race for five years, attracting international attention and participation.

In acknowledgment of the recent Great Alabama 650 Race, the resolution commends the division winners for their remarkable achievements. The winners include Trey Reaves, who took first place in the overall and male solo category, Salli O'Donnell as the female solo winner, and the two-person team of Matt Taylor and Myles Sumerlin. The resolution expresses appreciation for the skill and perseverance of all participants and highlights the race's significance in promoting paddling activities in Alabama. A copy of the resolution will be sent to the Alabama Scenic River Trail office and each of the division winners.
