This resolution commends Alabama for achieving a record $27.4 billion in export sales in 2023 and acknowledges the contributions of the state's international trade and export professionals, trade partnerships, and businesses that export products. Despite global trade uncertainties, Alabama has continued to excel as a top exporter, shipping goods and services to 190 countries. The state's economy has shown resilience, with transportation equipment being the leading export category at $14.8 billion, and aerospace products and parts sales increasing by 23 percent from the previous year to $2.1 billion.
The resolution recognizes the dedication of various stakeholders, including the Alabama Department of Commerce, the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, the Port of Mobile, Export Alabama Alliance, trade organizations, and research groups, as well as the manufacturing, transportation, and agricultural sectors, and small businesses involved in exports. It highlights the importance of international trade to Alabama's economy and job market, congratulates those responsible for the record export performance, and encourages the continued promotion of the "Made in Alabama" brand in the global marketplace. The resolution has been passed by both houses of the Alabama Legislature and certified by the Secretary of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
