The bill aims to adopt and incorporate various general and permanent laws enacted during the 2023 First Special Session, Regular Session, and Second Special Session into the Code of Alabama 1975. This includes the 2023 Cumulative Supplements and 2024 Replacement Volumes 16, 21, and 21A, as well as local laws from the same sessions. The act specifies that this incorporation represents a continuous systematic codification of the entire Code of Alabama and confirms that the Code Publisher, Thomson Reuters, has fulfilled its responsibilities in editing and publishing these volumes. Additionally, the act clarifies that it does not affect any statutes enacted during the 2024 session of the Legislature.
The bill also includes several corrections to existing law, such as replacing "Cultivatars" with "Cultivars" in Section 20-2A-62, deleting Section 22-24-12 entirely due to its repeal, and correcting a scrivener's error in Section 26-10E-19. Furthermore, it redesignates Section 45-22-100.07 as Section 45-22A-40. The act mandates that the authenticated volumes of the 2023 Cumulative Supplements and 2024 Replacement Volumes be filed with the Secretary of State, who will maintain custody of these documents and certify parts of them upon request. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
