The bill provides for an increase in compensation for the Coroner of Talladega County, Alabama. Starting from the first month after the bill's effective date, the coroner will receive an additional expense allowance of $8,000 per year, which will be paid in equal monthly installments from the county's general fund. This allowance is in addition to any other compensation or salary the coroner may receive. Furthermore, upon the expiration of the current coroner's term, the annual salary for the position will be set at $20,000, also payable in monthly installments, and this will replace any other forms of compensation or allowances previously provided.

Additionally, the bill repeals Act 2001-491 and any relevant provisions from Act 2097 of the 1971 Regular Session that pertain to the coroner's compensation. This repeal will take effect when the current term of the coroner expires. The act is set to become effective on June 1, 2024.
