The resolution honors Miss Belle Casey, a junior at Oak Mountain High School, for her dedicated efforts to raise awareness and support in the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. As Miss Historic Springville's Teen and Miss Shelby County's Outstanding Teen 2023, she has actively promoted her platform by engaging the community and encouraging involvement in the movement to defeat ALS. Over the past three years, Miss Casey has raised over $5,000 through various initiatives, including participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS, leading Twirl Away ALS Baton Camps, and collaborating with the Birmingham Squadron Basketball Team to donate a portion of ticket sales to the ALS Association Alabama Chapter.

Miss Casey's advocacy is deeply personal, as her cousin has battled ALS for over a decade, inspiring her commitment to research and fundraising for better treatments. As a competitive baton twirler, she aims to expand her Twirl Away ALS camp on both state and national levels to further raise awareness and inspire volunteerism in the fight against ALS. The resolution expresses the Alabama House of Representatives' admiration and appreciation for her impactful work and extends best wishes for her future endeavors.
