The bill amends Section 45-49-111.01 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to increase the compensation for election officials in Mobile County. Specifically, the daily pay for inspectors is raised from $200 to $250, for chief clerks from $175 to $225, and for provisional ballot, registration list, ballot distribution, and ballot counter clerks from $150 to $200. Additionally, the compensation for attending mandatory training sessions is increased from $30 to $50 for inspectors and chief clerks, and from $15 to $25 for other election officials. The bill also clarifies that the county treasury, along with municipal treasuries, will cover these compensation amounts.

Furthermore, the bill introduces provisions for the appointment of computer technical assistants at each election polling place, with their compensation to be determined by the Mobile County Commission. It also stipulates that the compensation for these assistants for attending mandatory training sessions will be set by the Commission. The act is set to take effect on June 1, 2024.
