This bill pertains to Lamar County and sets forth provisions regarding the salary of the Judge of Probate. The bill stipulates that effective from the next term of office after June 1, 2024, the Judge of Probate will receive an annual salary of $110,116. This salary is inclusive and is meant to cover the judge's responsibilities as chair of the county commission and for the administration of the one-stop tag program, if applicable. The salary will be paid from the general fund of Lamar County and represents the total compensation for the judge of probate, except as provided in a subsequent subsection.

Additionally, the bill provides that, in addition to the salary specified in subsection (a), the judge of probate will be eligible for the same uniform increases in compensation, including cost-of-living or other similar increases, that are granted to other county officers. These increases will be paid as an additional expense allowance during the judge's term and will be converted to salary at the beginning of the next term of office. The act is set to become effective on June 1, 2024. The bill has been enrolled and passed by the Senate on April 30, 2024, after originating from and being passed by the House on February 21, 2024.
