He holds degrees in Sociology, Psychology, and Theology from various institutions, including Jacksonville State University and the Interdenominational Theological Center, where he was elected student body president. His extensive experience includes roles as a former Vice Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Black Caucus, NAACP and SCLC President, and Gadsden City Council Member, among others.
In addition to his political and educational endeavors, Dr. Kelley has made significant contributions to community mobilization and leadership, with a chapter of a book published in his honor. He has served as a pastor in multiple Alabama cities and currently leads Lakeside United Methodist Church in Huntsville.
