Over his 53-season coaching career, he has achieved significant milestones, including winning 868 games, which ranks third in Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) history. His coaching accolades include leading teams to multiple state championships and being inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2022.

In addition to his basketball success, Coach Stapler has coached various sports, including football, golf, wrestling, and softball, at several high schools. He has been recognized as AHSAA Coach of the Year three times and has coached the Alabama All-Stars on two occasions. As he enters retirement, Coach Stapler plans to spend quality time with his family, tackle personal projects, and continue his involvement in basketball through the Alabama Basketball Academy, which he founded with his son.
