The bill amends Section 41-9-62 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to allow the Board of Adjustment to approve uncontested claims on an expedited basis without requiring a full hearing. This change is aimed at streamlining the claims process for damages against the State of Alabama and its agencies, thereby facilitating quicker resolutions for claimants. The new language specifies that the Board may approve these claims in accordance with the forms and rules established under Section 41-9-66.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the jurisdiction of the Board of Adjustment remains limited to the claims enumerated in subsection (a) and does not extend to matters already under the jurisdiction of the State Board of Compromise or to claims related to contracts where a state agency is designated as the final arbiter. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
