The bill amends the compensation structure for the Revenue Commissioner of Chambers County, establishing a new expense allowance and salary framework. Effective from the first day of the month following the bill's enactment, the Revenue Commissioner will receive an additional expense allowance, bringing the total annual compensation to eighty-four thousand dollars ($84,000), payable in monthly installments. This allowance is in addition to any existing salary or compensation and will be treated as salary for retirement purposes. Furthermore, starting from the next term of office after the bill's effective date, the annual salary will be set at eighty-four thousand dollars ($84,000), rendering the previous expense allowance void.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that beginning October 1, 2024, the Revenue Commissioner will be entitled to uniform compensation increases, such as cost-of-living adjustments, similar to other elected county officers. These increases will be classified as expense allowances during the term and treated as salary for retirement purposes, with the total amount added to the permanent salary at the end of each term. The funding for this compensation will come from the same sources currently used for the Revenue Commissioner's salary. The bill also includes a provision to repeal any conflicting laws and will take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
