This bill amends existing law regarding the licensing of professional fishing guides in Alaska. It introduces a new subsection to AS 41.21.506, stipulating that if the commissioner establishes a licensing procedure for fishing guides, any revocation of such a license or permit must be for cause. The licensee must be notified of the reason for revocation and given an opportunity for a hearing, which will be conducted by the office of administrative hearings. The decision made by the hearing officer will be considered a final administrative order and is subject to judicial review. However, the commissioner retains the authority to suspend all licenses or permits issued under this section.

Additionally, the bill amends AS 44.62.330(a) by adding a new paragraph that specifies the Department of Natural Resources' role in the revocation of a professional fishing guide's license under the newly established regulations. This change aims to ensure a fair process for license revocation while maintaining the department's oversight in the matter.
