This bill establishes a mandatory personal finance education program for public school students in grades nine through twelve in Alaska. Each school district is required to implement this program, which must be approved by the state department. The department will provide a curated list of open educational resources covering various financial topics, including budgeting, money management, credit, loans, insurance, taxes, and financial implications related to Native corporations. The program must equate to at least a half-credit hour course, and students must complete it to receive a high school diploma, with an exception for students who transfer after completing grade 10.

The bill also defines "open educational resource" and clarifies that the new requirements will apply to students graduating on or after January 1, 2027. The effective date for the implementation of this act is set for July 1, 2026.
