The Alaska State Legislature has passed a resolution reaffirming its commitment to strengthening international relations with Taiwan. This resolution highlights the long-standing bilateral relationship between the United States and Taiwan, which encompasses trade, education, cultural exchanges, and tourism. It emphasizes the shared values of freedom, democracy, and human rights, as well as the significant economic ties, with Taiwan being Alaska's eighth largest export market in 2023. The resolution also notes the importance of the sister-state relationship established in 1988 and the various sister-city partnerships that have facilitated cultural exchanges.

Furthermore, the resolution advocates for the resumption of an Alaska Trade Office in Taiwan to enhance trade and export growth, as well as to foster collaboration in education and technology. It supports expanding educational exchanges and encourages Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations. The Alaska State Legislature endorses a closer economic partnership between the United States and Taiwan, including the pursuit of trade and tax agreements to promote mutual trade and investment. Copies of the resolution will be sent to key officials, including the Governor of Alaska and members of the U.S. Congress.
