Specifically, it adds complex care residential homes to the list of facilities outlined in AS 47.32.010(b) and defines them in AS 47.32.900(22) as residential settings that provide 24-hour multi-disciplinary care for individuals with various needs requiring specialized services. Additionally, the definition of "assisted living home" is updated to include complex care residential homes in the exclusions listed in AS 47.32.900(2)(B).

Furthermore, the bill clarifies that "hospital" does not include complex care residential homes, as stated in the amended definition in AS 47.32.900(11). To facilitate the implementation of these changes, the Department of Health is tasked with submitting necessary amendments to the state Medicaid plan or applying for waivers to ensure compliance with federal requirements. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2027.
