This bill amends existing laws regarding procurement preferences for agricultural and fisheries products harvested or processed within the state of Alaska. It establishes that municipalities receiving state funds must prioritize purchasing local agricultural and fisheries products if they are available and of comparable quality to out-of-state products. Specifically, municipalities are required to purchase local products if they are priced no more than 10% above similar out-of-state products, and they may purchase them if they are priced no more than 25% above those products.

Additionally, the bill modifies the percentage preferences applied to state and school district purchases of local agricultural and fisheries products, increasing the minimum preference from 7% to 10% and the maximum from 15% to 25%. These changes aim to support local agriculture and fisheries by ensuring that state-funded entities prioritize local products when making procurement decisions. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
